OROGEMMA 2006: PREVIEW OF EVENTS
Orogemma 2006 is the international exhibition dedicated to gold and silverware, jewellery, watches and gemmology scheduled from 9 to 13 September at the Vicenza Fair. It is also an opportunity for bringing initiatives, projects and ideas promoting this sector to the attention of specialist press worldwide. One example in this direction is the competition for graduation theses on the goldsmith’s art, organised by the Gold Jewellers Section of the Province of Vicenza Industrial Association, which has now reached its fifteenth edition. The award ceremony for the competition will be held after the Orogemma opening ceremony. Set up to encourage studies in the sector and a more constructive relationship between school and industry, prizes are given in three categories: historic-artistic, economic-management and technological-innovative. The commission is made up of professors from the Bocconi University in Milan, from the Ca’ Foscari University in Venice and the Faculty of Engineering in Padua. Meanwhile, “Geometriche emozioni” is a more recently introduced competition specifically dedicated to jewellery design and organised by the TrissinoOro Consortium. The prize-winning jewels will be on display during Orogemma in pavilion B (booths 3B and 4B). Events previewed at Orogemma include “Jewelry Top Brands”, with a press conference on Monday 11 September at 10 am in the Fogazzaro Room. This is the special Vicenza Fair area dedicated to top-level Italian jewellery, which will be featuring at the international “Luxury & Yachts” show, organised by Optimist srl from 10 to 18 February 2007 at the Veronafiere Exhibition Centre.
