CONTEMPORARY ITALIAN JEWELLERY:
TECHNIQUES AND MATERIALS IN ART AND DESIGN
PALAZZO VALMARANA, VICENZA
Starting today, a jewellery exhibition shines in the heart of Vicenza
Vicenza, 13th January. With FIRST, Italian jewellery takes the spotlight. But the global previews of the new lines created by companies attending the Fair are not the only things to shine and impress. So too do the international talent and creativity seen today at Palazzo Valmarana, in the historic centre of the city. The ribbon was cut at 18 o'clock and so the itinerant exhibition by the name of Contemporary Italian Jewellery: techniques and materials in art and design began, remaining in Vicenza until the 15th of March.
Fiera Vicenza offers this event alongside the traditional fair lineup, contributing to the increasing value of contemporary gold culture and promoting innovation through new occasions for reflection and understanding. The event constitutes an important occasion to exhibit and view some exceptional pieces of jewellery, signed by master goldsmiths and designers of the international variety, allowing the sector's companies to interpret the new face of jewellery. Over 400 pieces are on display, highlighting the value of jewellery as an icon of contemporary luxury and of the Made in Italy.
The project is overseen by Alba Cappellieri, professor of jewellery design at the Politecnico in Milan, and was also manifest as a contest that finished on the 14th December. The winning projects will be announced during the second leg of the exhibition, due to take place from the 17th March to the 17th April in Milan's prestigious Castello Sforzesco.
An occasion to celebrate the Italian jewellery tradition, while emphasizing the importance of the creative and projectual aspects in competing on international markets; the same challenge accepted by Fiera Vicenza with the launch of the new gold and jewellery events.
